A bit about me
I wasn’t always a Product Designer but I’ve always been a designer. My first company I built was a greeting card business where I sold to my family these digital cards I would design for fun. I built an entire website in Wix, took months on it to use by myself, but it was fun to me. Afterwards I liked it so much I made up a business for my 3 year old sister — she could barely draw but I made an artsy website for her out of my selfish intuition.
I didn’t realize it was something I could do in the future, so I kept designing as a hobby. Whether it be making a hundred page comic book about a talking pea that turned into a superhero, or learning 3D modeling in Blender five times just to forget it the next month (I will be back). I love the creativity that product design gives me. It’s about making things that actually resonate with people, connecting with fellow designers and engineers. Letting me surround myself with people in tech has helped me learn that I belong here.
When I changed my major from communications to Design after transferring to the University of California, Davis, I was a bit nervous because I saw my peers as so much more ahead of me in this field. Through discipline and hard work I closed that gap. I finally feel like I’m at a point where I can contribute amazing things to whoever I work with, and see myself as an extremely passionate designer that continues to grow at a rapid pace and hopes to push the limits of human-centered design with the teams I work with.
